YTD Totals
+12.15 units (Cup Match-Ups)
+07.60 units (N'wide Match-Ups)
- 10.04 units (Props/Outrights)
Total: + 9.71 units
Stepping out early on a few plays this week.
Outrights
1.50 units Dale Earnhardt Jr. (15 to 2) @bodog
Looking for an end to the two year drought. Jr has always ran well at Darlington, can't remember the last time he finished outside of the Top 10 or 12. Has an even stronger team this year than in the past. The top echelon teams at Hendrick( the 24 & 48) combined have only one finish outside the Top 4 since 2004(@Darlington). Jeff Gordon was one of three Cup teams to test the new surface at Darlington which will be a big advantage for all Hendrick teams.
What happened last week at Richmond will only drive this team more.
1.50 units Denny Hamlin (13 to 2) (@bodog)
This guy has been very strong the past five weeks. With any luck at all he would have three wins instead of one. Was dominant at Richmond last week leading all but 20-something laps before the tire went down and at Bristol he had the fuel pick-up problem while leading with two to go.
Hamlin has never finished outside the Top 10 at Darlington in the Cup Series or the Nationwide Series.
0.50 unit Greg Biffle (14 to 1) (@bodog)
0.50 unit Ryan Newman (28 to 1) (@bodog)
A couple of reasons for these plays. They both tested at Darlington and they both have good history here.
Biffle won back-to-back in 2005-2006, Newman has placed in the Top 6 in four of the last five here.
Four units is a lot more than I normally spend on outrights, and I've had rotten luck trying to pick race winners. Maybe that changes this week.
